Los Angeles Lakers: 3 advantages against the Nuggets in the Conference Finals
2. Playoff and championship experience
The Nuggets are an incredibly inexperienced team, playoff wise. Going up against a roster full of playoff-regulars like the Lakers will not be an easy task to accomplish.
In the current Nuggets roster, the only player to ever make a conference final appearance is Paul Millsap, who has been in this situation twice in his career. Even though his past experiences with the Utah Jazz and the Atlanta Hawks will certainly be helpful, they are nothing compared to what the Lakers can boast about having.
The guys wearing the purple and gold jerseys have been somewhat successful in their postseason careers. A total of 10 different Lakers have made it this far at least once, bringing the team total of conference finals appearances to a staggering 32!
Moving on, a total of six Lakers have at least one NBA Finals appearance, whereas LeBron is on his way for double digits in that category. The Denver Nuggets, on the other hand, have no active player with an NBA Finals entry.
These may seem like pure numbers at this point, but when you get this close to the Larry O’Brien trophy, the pressure starts to get to you.
Young teams rarely make it to the conference finals, let alone the NBA Finals. As great as they’ve played in the Disney World bubble, the Nuggets might have an expiration date on them. A date that is approaching rapidly.
