2. Re-sign Christian Wood

After playing for four different franchises in five years, including missing the 2017-18 season, playing in the G-League, Christian Wood has found a home. He played 62 games last season for the Pistons, starting 12.

One of the few bright spots of the 2019-20 season, Wood was able to average 13.1 points, 6.3 points, 1.0 assists and 0.9 blocks in only 21.4 minutes per game. These numbers are all above his career averages.

While Wood has the reputation of being able to dunk the ball from anywhere, he has also got a good 3-point shot, going at 38.6 percent from deep. This means that Wood has become a solid stretch four and his defenders need to respect his shot.

Last season Wood was sixth in the NBA in true shooting percent, seventh in 2-point shooting percent, ninth in effective field goal percentage, and 11th in field goal percentage. He was also 16th in player efficiency rating.

Added to this he was also top 20 in offensive rebounding percentage, defensive rebounding percent and total rebounding percent. He was 14th in offensive rating and 20th in offensive box plus/minus. He did all of this while earning just $1.6 million dollars.

The Pistons need to lock Wood up long term, he is not worth a massive deal but the Pistons have only $71 million committed next season. Wood deserves a good chunk of this cap space as the 24-year-old is a solid piece moving forward.
