Post-lottery Mock NBA Draft: One week later for the Minnesota Timberwolves
By Corey Rausch
If the Golden State Warriors stay at this spot there is no reason to change the previous prediction. James Wiseman would not have anyone blocking his spot. He would immediately be able to come in and contribute to a team lacking a true big man.
In the Bay Area, Wiseman will not be asked to do too much and that is perfect. He can play a simpler role, do what he is good at already, and not be forced out of his comfort zone until he is fully developed. He has elite potential as a shot-blocker and could be the last line of defense to combine with Draymond Green as he ages.
Imagining Wiseman playing in transition with the shooting of this team is a thing of beauty. He will be able to thrive in a rim-running scenario. Wiseman will be a clear shot of youthful potential, exuberance and bounce to what was once one of the best lineups in the history of the league.
The key here is Golden State’s ability to bring him along slowly and not force too much of a burden on him. On a team where he has to be the number one option immediately, he may struggle. With the Warriors, James Wiseman will find his perfect situation.
