1. player. 86. . Guard. Minnesota Timberwolves. Anthony Edwards

The Minnesota Timberwolves jumping to the top was met with annoyance by some given their recent number one overall pick but this is actually the first time the team has actually moved up in the lottery. For a team looking to add a third cornerstone to their team, this is the prime opportunity.

While their front office has given the indication that they are not concerned with positional overlap that will not be an issue here. Anthony Edwards is the choice for them and should fit alongside their two stars well. Selecting Edwards would give them a new dimension in terms of transition offense that could lift them into elite offensive status as the young core develops together.

He would walk into this team having the highest defensive potential of all of their young guys and would be able to pick his spots on offense as he develops his game even more. His size and athletic ability are elite and if he can put it all together Edwards would be a special player for whatever direction the team goes in.

He needs to work on effort and consistency. A prospect’s motor is one of the issues that disqualify most top picks from the conversation but the ceiling and fit are too perfect to pass up here.
