Sixth Man of the Year: Dennis Schroder

Chris Paul gets the headlines, but sixth man Dennis Schroder has been a major driver behind the surprising Oklahoma City Thunder this season. The Thunder were expected to let the bottom drop out and tank this season but instead, they surged to a fifth-seed spot in the Western Conference.

Schroder averaged 18.9 points, 4.0 assists and 3.6 rebounds per game off the bench, shooting 46.9 percent and 38.5 percent from 3-point range.

He received 47.2 percent of the votes for a total of 17, and LA Clippers teammates split the remaining 19 with Lou Williams getting 10 and Montrezl Harrell getting nine votes.

Defensive Player of the Year: Giannis Antetokounmpo

Giannis Antetokounmpo’s winning tally for Defensive Player of the Year wasn’t as decisive as his MVP margin, but it was still a no-doubter. As the leader and most destructive force on the best defense in the NBA, Antetokounmpo was a worthy winner.

He received 58.3 percent of the vote for a total of 21 votes, followed by Anthony Davis of the Los Angeles Lakers with eight, Rudy Gobert of the Utah Jazz receiving four, and Brook Lopez, Patrick Beverley and Joel Embiid all received one vote each.
