2. Game 29

Celtics 129 – Cavaliers 117

The Cleveland Cavaliers had nine wins by late December, as they continued to attempt to figure out how to utilize Collin Sexton and Darius Garland in the backcourt. On the contrary, the Celtics won four straight games and were looking to continue their hot streak.

Jaylen Brown was coming off one of his best performances ever and had the hot hand. In the first few minutes, Brown scored seven straight points giving Boston the lead. After the team went on another run late in the quarter, the Celtics ended up ahead by 10 points.

Tatum led the Celtics in the second, extending their lead to 14 by halftime. In the second half, Brown scored 19 more points, and the Celtics effortlessly pulled off the victory. Brown tied his career-high of 34 points along with nine rebounds a couple of assists. He did so in just 29 minutes, using his efficiency to be effective.

Defensively his opponents had a field goal percentage of 33.3 percent, making an impact on that end as well. Unlike the game in Philadephia, Brown made five threes, while shooting 65 percent from the floor.

Most of Jaylen Brown’s shots were on the fast break, using his defensive IQ and athleticism to create several scoring opportunities against the inexperienced Cavaliers’ backcourt. The only defect in the performance was the level of opposition.

In all facets, Brown was the star of the team on this night. But like mentioned earlier, he had arguably his best game ever just one game prior.
