Isaiah Thomas

After revamping his career with the Washington Wizards, Isaiah Thomas was traded to and eventually waived by the LA Clippers. The former MVP candidate is still on the free-agent market and could bolster a team’s second unit with some stellar point guard play.

In 40 games with the Wizards this season, Thomas was primarily the team’s starting point guard and had a bounce-back year after sitting on the end of the Denver Nuggets bench last season. Thomas averaged 12.2 points per game this season on 40.8 percent shooting from the field and a stellar 41.3 percent from 3-point land.

Although Thomas may be several years removed from his peak, the guard still undoubtedly has a place in this league. He may not be a starter on several teams heading into the Orlando bubble, but he could still be a viable option off of the bench.

He has proved to be a liability on the defensive end, which could potentially be the main factor that has kept him out of the league. Still, if a team is in need of a spark offensively off of the bench, why not take a low-risk gamble on the 2-time All-Star?

Thomas is only 31 years old and showcased this season that he still has some fuel left in the tank to play at the highest level. If a team is scouring the open market for a backup point guard before the NBA season resumes next month, Isaiah Thomas could be their best option.
