Minnesota Timberwolves: Who is the team’s third best player?
By Ethan Becker
4. Jordan McLaughlin
Jordan McLaughlin had a great season, and he outplayed everyone’s expectations for him. Having tried his luck on a few different teams before Minnesota, it’s just nice to see McLaughlin finding his spot on the Timberwolves roster.
Along with that, he’s been playing great. McLaughlin has averaged 7.6 points, 4.2 assists, 1.6 rebounds, and 1.1 steals per game while averaging under 20 minutes per game and maintaining a shooting split of .489/.382/.667.
McLaughlin’s stats only tell part of the story though. He’s also one of the most athletic guards on the team and can jump out of the building.
The downside to McLaughlin is his age. Due to his journey to the NBA, McLaughlin is a little older than most rookies at 24 years old. It’s also worth mentioning that McLaughlin is undersized, even for a point guard.
At 5’11”, there is a chance that bigger guards like Russell Westbrook could be able to bully him around a bit; and of course, if McLaughlin were in the starting lineup against Ben Simmons and the Philadelphia 76ers, it would create a clear problem in matchups no matter who he matched up with.
