2. Draymond Green vs Rudy Gobert

Does everybody just hate the Warriors and want to play their guys one-vs-one? Kind of, but there are plenty more reasons that we’d love to see Draymond Green go up against Rudy Gobert of the Utah Jazz. These days every dominant center from back in the day believes that Green wouldn’t have been able to get the better of them.

Gobert is probably the closest thing we have in the NBA today to that older way of big men playing. This is both a good and bad thing for him, as he’s a two-time Defensive Player of the Year winner, who can’t even stay on the court in every playoff series he’s a part of and whose worth may not be as high as you’d think elsewhere.

So to see these two go at it, while a different type of game entirely to Curry vs Paul, would be fascinating. Would Green be able to budge Gobert in the paint? Would Green’s quickness and ability to shoot from further away from the basket drag Gobert away from the middle so much that he could then get inside himself?

If we’re looking at this from a boxing/MMA/WWE matchmaking angle as well, then Gobert comes in as the ready-made heel (villain) of the piece. After all, it was his carelessness that led to the season being shut down, even if it was bound to happen sooner rather than later. Nevertheless, that could make Green the unlikely hero in all of this too.

The talking out of Green would be next level, plus if Gobert started cursing his opponent out in French, well that would be a fun little wrinkle to throw in there. To up the stakes even more, they could play for one of Green’s rings, because you know he’s going to do that every day of the week. The perfect game right before the main event.
