Montrezl Harrell free agency destinations: Phoenix Suns

The Phoenix Suns will be an interesting team to keep an eye on this coming NBA free agency because they could make several moves to give them enough money to sign a player like Montrezl Harrell. Declining the options on all of Dario Saric, Frank Kaminsky, Aron Baynes, Elie Okobo, and Cheick Diallo could free up almost $25 million.

If they were to let all of these players go, there would be a significant hole left in their frontcourt, an area Harrell could aid. His desired payday may scare away the Suns because it is potentially so hefty, but the team should not turn him away so quickly. Harrell could be the final piece of the puzzle after several years of mediocrity.

Aside from franchise pillars Devin Booker and Deandre Ayton, Phoenix’s treacherous draft record is partially to blame despite several high lottery picks. However, they made a move for Kelly Oubre Jr. last season, who has turned into a great piece next to Booker and Ayton in this new Big Three.

Still, the Suns could not find any genuine success, finishing 26-39 when the NBA season halted. Harrell could be that piece to help the team. Although his fit next to Ayton may seem questionable on paper, this tandem could become one of the league’s most dynamic in the frontcourt.

Mixed in with Booker and Oubre, that could be an up-and-coming team moving forward. Regardless, it is unknown if Phoenix would pursue such a high-priced free agent or not because it would take several additional moves to do so. Still, the Suns’ young core with Harrell would be an intriguing team in the loaded Western Conference.
