In a rather lackluster NBA free agency class, Montrezl Harrell could be a hot commodity on the market this offseason as he searches for a new contract.

In the final year of a 2-year $12 million contract with the LA Clippers, Sixth Man of the Year candidate Montrezl Harrell could be in search of a significant payday this offseason.

The fifth-year subersub was having a career year in 2019-20 before the NBA suspended play due to the coronavirus pandemic and will soon become an unrestricted free agent.

Harrell averaged 18.6 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks per game and will be a highly sought after target many teams could pursue this coming free agency. While staying in LA seems like a no-brainer for both sides, it might not be as simple as putting pen to paper.

In an article from Ric Bucher of Bleacher Report, one unnamed Western Conference scout thinks that Clippers could have a problem on their hands.

“The Clippers have a real dilemma. Montrezl wants to get paid, but he does most of his damage against backups. If you already have Paul and Kawhi on your books, can you pay him what he’s going to want?”

The answer is yet to be determined as the NBA remains in a standstill. If the Clippers indeed intend to let the power forward walk in free agency, numerous teams should pick up the phone and give him a call.

At 26-years-old, Harrell is still at a reasonably young place in his NBA career and could boost a team’s winning aspirations significantly. With that, here are three teams that should pursue Montrezl Harrell in free agency.
