5. Back to back comebacks

The Oklahoma City Thunder hit their stride in the winter months of the season.

The team entered December with a 7-11 record — turning things around to reach 37-22 by Feb. 27.

The first half of the Thunder’s winter run is highlighted by two games at home in mid-December.

The team was coming off of a loss in Denver to host the Chicago Bulls in Oklahoma City on Dec. 16.

They were flat.

The Bulls ran off to a 19-point halftime lead.

”I told the guys at halftime that it’s a long game, it’s never over,” Chris Paul told reporters after the game.

Paul led by example — hitting five 3-point shots in the fourth quarter to lead the team to a 106-106 tie in the closings seconds.

Steven Adams took the game’s final free throws to seal a 109-106 win for the Thunder.

Two nights later, they came out flat at home again.

The young Memphis Grizzlies came to Loud City and jumped on the Thunder by halftime — leading 68-59 at the break.

The lead grew quickly in the third quarter when the Grizzlies held the Thunder scoreless for the first three minutes and eventually led by 24.

This time around, the hero is Dennis Schroder.

Schroder scored 22 of his 31 points in the second half.

According to NBA.com, the Thunder are the only NBA team in the past 20 years to overcome deficits of at least 24 points in consecutive games and win both.

They extended this particular win streak to four with wins over the Phoenix Suns and LA Clippers in their next two games.
