Star power

Great players are what makes good teams great. If you take Allen Iverson off that 2001 Philadelphia 76ers Finals team then you wouldn’t have a championship-caliber team. Those LeBron James Cleveland Cavaliers teams during his first tenure with them without him are not winning 60 games back to back years.

The Clippers have two superstars in Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. Leonard is eighth in points per game with 26.9 and George is 23rd in points per game with 21.0. Together they help the Clippers become the fourth team in points per game with 116.2.

When you have star players they help you get over the hump in clutch situations. When the score is less than five points both players are efficient. George has an efficient field goal percentage of 56.8 and Leonard has an efficient field goal percentage of 49.3.

In the fourth quarter, George has an efficient field goal percentage of 49.5 and Leonard has an efficient field goal percentage of 51.4.

The Clippers are 11th in clutch wins this season with 17 this season. In clutch win percentage they are seventh with 60.7 percent of those games won. When you have star players that helps get your team through tough situations.
