4. January 25 against Brooklyn

One week later and we have a pretty different outing for the Pistons as a whole when the Brooklyn Nets came to town. The biggest issue for the Pistons on this night was Kyrie Irving, who went for 45 points, seven assists and six rebounds to lead the Nets to a 10-point overtime road win.

Not to be fully outdone by his fellow former All-Star and number one overall pick, Derrick Rose posted a line of 27 points, six assists, five rebounds and two steals.

Rose was required to play an exorbitant 37 minutes in this game, trying alongside Andre Drummond (who posted an absurd 20 points, 21 rebounds and two blocks in his own right) to keep the Pistons in the game.

Another Rose hallmark in these games is minimizing mistakes. He only committed one personal foul and turned the ball over once. He also shot 45.5 percent from the floor and made all of his free throws.

As was often the case this season. this was just not the Pistons night through no fault of Rose’s. An interesting side note in the two games thus far is that even as Rose dominates he finds a way to get his teammates consistently involved, resulting in impressive stat lines for not only himself but other Pistons as well. This builds camaraderie and trust as well as good habits even while the unfortunate losses pile up.
