5. January 18 vs. Atlanta

First up on the list we have Derrick Rose cooking in a pretty favorable matchup against Trae Young and the Atlanta Hawks. Not known for their defensive prowess, the Pistons were hoping for a big night in Atlanta and they got that.

Rose led all scorers with 27 points as one of three Pistons to eclipse the 20 point mark. He also chipped in nine assists, two rebounds and a steal to go with one turnover. Impressively he was able to accomplish these lofty numbers in only 26 minutes of play.

This is a hallmark of the Derrick Rose experience this season as he was often only able to appear in limited minutes to preserve his body and often made the most of limited opportunities. This was about more than wins and losses as it was also showing some of the younger players on the team to give it your all with every opportunity, even when the game seems lost.

This game was never in doubt, however, as the Pistons led by seven after the first quarter and put up over 30 points in each quarter leading to a 136-103 drubbing on the road.

While January was not the best month for the team as a whole, as you will see on this list, it was a great month for Rose. It led to many expecting him to get moved at the deadline. Luckily for Motor City, fans that didn’t happen.
