In a slightly less efficient effort on the road against the Orlando Magic, Wood was again arguably the best player on the floor. The only player who came close to him that night was his top defensive assignment, Aaron Gordon. Wood only got fifteen minutes in their first meeting of the season and was looking to prove that he deserved the opportunity against another Eastern Conference playoff hopeful.

Again Wood led all scorers with 26 points,  edging out Gordon and added 12 rebounds, an assist and two blocks. Better than the last game we looked at, Wood was 7-of-8 from the line, had no turnovers and only two personal fouls.

He was much cooler from behind the arc (1-of-4) but limited his attempts when he realized it was not his night from distance. He was still a solid 64 percent from the field while leading the game in rebounds.

Putting the team on his back in the effort to get an important road win was his goal. The Pistons may have come up just short, falling to the Magic in overtime but the fault was not with Wood. Five other Pistons reached double figures in scoring. Sometimes it is just the other team’s night.
