T.J. McConnell (guard) and Doug McDermott (forward) Indiana Pacers

Finally, we have a package deal T.J. McConnell and Doug McDermott. Yes, I’m serious. It all comes full circle in this deal as the Philadelphia 76ers would look to bring back former backup point guard T.J. McConnell while also bringing in a guy who can stretch the floor in Doug McDermott.

Considering the extreme amount of depth that the Indiana Pacers have at wing, with the likes of Malcolm Brogdon, Victor Oladipo, T.J. Warren, Jeremy Lamb, and Aaron Holiday on the roster, McConnell and McDermott could be moved to create space. The Sixers would be able to fill up two spots in this deal, thus helping the roster stay afloat.

Now, it’s no secret that Sixers fans have a love/ hate relationship with McConnell. Part of the fanbase appreciates his pestering defense and his ability to run Brett Brown’s offense, while the other part simply thinks he can’t play. But, there’s no denying that McConnell would fill an immediate need if brought back.

Next, Doug McDermott would a dire need for the Sixers in his ability to provide top-tier 3-point shooting. Over his career, McDermott has averaged 41.3 percent from three-point range. That sort of production would immediately boost the Philadelphia 76ers’ bench. That sort of production would allow Brett Brown to make adjustments and create opportunities to move pieces around.

So, targeting McConnell and McDermott would be my ideal scenario. The Sixers would add a guy who can stretch the floor and also bring back a guy who provided a lot of energy off the bench for the team.

Now, this would be another deal that would involve Scott and Smith, but I would also include Kyle O’Quinn and one or two seconds. That way, the value is distributed equally to both sides. Ultimately, this would be a move that the Sixers could truly benefit from if it were to happen.
