4. Nov. 27, 2019: AD shines in return to New Orleans

The New Orleans Pelicans selected Davis with the top overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft. Although Davis earned six All-Star selections during his seven-year tenure, the team produced only two postseason appearances during that stretch.

Armed with the knowledge that the Pelicans were never going to be in a position to compete for a championship, Davis requested a trade last year, but New Orleans was not in a rush to part ways with their All-Star big man.

However, they finally decided to trade Davis to the Lakers during the offseason in exchange for three players (Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart and Lonzo Ball) and future draft picks as well.

Fast forward to this contest – one in which Davis returning to the place he once called home – you can imagine the reception he would get from Pelicans fans. As expected, the boos rained down on the former franchise player.

But that didn’t stop Davis from putting on a spectacular show. He scored 41 points on 15-for-30 shooting from the field along with nine rebounds and three steals.

Furthermore, with the Lakers nursing a two-point lead in the closing seconds, AD stole an inbound pass intended for Ingram and knocked down a pair to free throws, enabling the Lakers to escape with a 114-110 win. The 41-point total was the highest scoring output by an NBA player against his former team.
