8. Rajon Rondo (Los Angeles Lakers)

Rajon Rondo isn’t to the Celtics what Shaquille O’Neal was to the Lakers, but where the former has the latter beat is in regards to his impact on perhaps the greatest rivalry across the entire sports landscape.

From 2008-10, the two flagship franchises seemed to be on a yearly collision course to meet in the Finals. In 2008 and 2010, that’s exactly what happened, and Rondo was in the thick of the action.

As Boston’s starting point guard in just his sophomore season, he put up 6.7 assists and 1.5 steals across six games to help the Celtics take home the title in 2008.

Rondo has a legitimate argument for Finals MVP in 2010 had the Celtics come through in Game 7. The four-time All-Star still averaged 13.6 points along with team-highs in 7.6 assists, 6.3 rebounds and 1.6 steals per contest during that series.
