9. Chris Webber (Detroit Pistons)

Chris Webber had made his NBA mark during his days with the Sacramento Kings as a perennial All-Star and All-NBA forward who led Sacramento as far as the Western Conference Finals in 2002.

By the 2006-07 season, however, Webber’s All-Star days were far gone and he hadn’t played for the Kings since being traded to the Philadelphia 76ers roughly two years prior.

It was during January of that season when Philly decided to cut bait with the aging star after just one full season and some change with the team.

Looking to push forward, Webber inked a deal with a Detroit Pistons team in need of frontcourt assistance after Ben Wallace departed the previous summer.

Webber started 42 of his 43 games for the Pistons, helping them to within two games of the Finals. He averaged 11.3 points, 6.7 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game during the regular season and 9.9 points and 6.3 rebounds while starting each of Detroit’s 16 playoff outings.

Hall of Fame or not, Webber will always be remembered for his years in Sacramento. It’s why no other jersey feels right other than the black and purple, especially not one with diametrically opposing colors like Detroit’s red and blue.
