On Tuesday afternoon ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski announced that four Brooklyn Nets had tested positive for coronavirus. It was later announced that of those players is Kevin Durant.

On Tuesday afternoon ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski broke the news that four Brooklyn Nets players had tested positive for coronavirus. Shortly thereafter, Shams Charania of The Athletic announced that one of those players was Kevin Durant.

Durant is one of three players to not display symptoms, while one of his Nets teammates who tested positive is exhibiting symptoms according to the statement released by the team shortly after the positive tests were announced.

Durant has had a year to forget dating back to last season’s playoffs with the Golden State Warriors when he suffered a non-contact left leg injury against the Houston Rockets in the Western Conference Finals. It was ruled a calf strain and he missed the end of that series and the first four games of the NBA Finals against the Toronto Raptors.

He returned to action in Game Five and ruptured his Achilles tendon which forced him to miss all of the 2019-20 season. Capping off all this chaos is a positive test for COVID-19, the disease caused by coronavirus.

Durant and Kyrie Irving joined forces this past summer and signed with the Brooklyn Nets along with DeAndre Jordan with the intention of being a force to be reckoned with in the Eastern Conference power structure in 2020 and beyond.

With the season on indefinite hiatus, it’s hard to know just when they’ll be able to resume that quest. Given Kevin Durant’s positive test results and those of his Brooklyn Nets teammates, there are far more unknowns than knowns as we look toward the future for the NBA in this season and down the road.
