On Tuesday a shockwave rippled through the NBA when ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski announced that four Brooklyn Nets players had tested positive for coronavirus.

On Tuesday afternoon ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski dropped a stunning announcement on Twitter: Four Brooklyn Nets players had tested positive for the coronavirus.

The NBA suspended its season almost a week ago on March 11th when Rudy Gobert of the Utah Jazz tested positive right before tip against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Since then, Gobert’s teammate Donovan Mitchell and recent opponent Christian Wood of the Detroit Pistons have tested positive.

This news brings the total number of confirmed cases of COVID-19, the disease caused by coronavirus, among NBA players to seven.

Immediately after Wojnarowski’s tweet, the Brooklyn Nets released a statement.

The Nets have not played the Jazz or Pistons in recent weeks, but their last game before the NBA suspended the season was the night before on March 10th against the Los Angeles Lakers at Staples Center.

Their next game was slated to be against the Golden State Warriors at the newly-opened Chase Center in San Francisco on March 12th, and would have been the first game played without fans had the NBA’s plans to continue the season gone ahead.

As it happened, that game never took place and clearly so much the better as the league and its teams continue to try to control the situation as it pertains to their players and organizations.
