The Denver Nuggets

One of the more intriguing fits for Gordon is with the Denver Nuggets.

Sean Deveney of Heavy.com reported that according to buzz around the league, that if Gordon is made available Denver is one of the teams to expect to take an interest.

It’s hard to ignore the contrasts between Gordon and his would-be frontcourt partner Nikola Jokic. The two might work together in an “opposites attract” kind of way. For now, the Nuggets have Jerami Grant and Paul Millsap in the frontcourt, both of whom are expected to test free agency.

This year’s playoffs will tell Denver all they need to know regarding how high they should prioritize the two forwards, and to be more frank, which of the two they should go after. Combining the two’s potential price tags doesn’t exactly mesh well with the Nuggets’ timeline or payroll.

Gordon’s $19-million salary, on the other hand, gives Denver one year to test it out, with another year wide open to opportunities if they need to dump via trade.

Sending off Gary Harris will be hard. He was drafted and quite literally has grown in Denver.

But he’s had an up and down year in Denver, but most recently he’s played well. So if they play their cards right, the Nuggets could be looking at a first-round pick in addition to Gordon in exchange for Harris. Provided he can finish this year out on his current incline.
