1. Spencer Dinwiddie

Spencer Dinwiddie joined the Brooklyn Nets in December of 2016 and has turned himself into a solid NBA player. Before joining the Nets, Dinwiddie spent the first two seasons with the Detroit Pistons and a brief stint with the Chicago Bulls G-League affiliate.

When the 2019-2020 season tipped off the expectation was that Dinwiddie would come off the bench as the sixth man. It did not take long for the six-year pro to enter the starting lineup. An unexpected shoulder injury to Kyrie Irving forced the team’s hands.

One positive from this season has been the play of Dinwiddie since taking over as the starting point guard. He understood that his responsibilities would increase and for an extended stretch of games had the team playing their best basketball of the season.

It was during that impressive slate of games that had Dinwiddie in the conversation to represent the Nets on the All-Star team as a reserve. The point guard is having the best season of his career averaging 20.6 points and 6.8 assists per game. Both are career highs.

Dinwiddie’s career in Brooklyn earned him his first big contract, worth $34 million over three years, but his status for next season could be up for debate. With a healthy Kyrie Irving scheduled to return at the start of next season, Dinwiddie would more than likely return to his respected role as the team’s backup point guard. Would that be a legitimate option or does he seek the opportunity to start elsewhere?
