3. Rookie stud Terence Davis

Terence Davis was not drafted with any of the 60 picks in the 2019 NBA Draft. There was a rare intention behind that decision for the player himself, as Davis made it clear he had no intention of signing a two-way contract he likely would’ve been subjected to as a second-round draft pick.

Instead, he went to the Summer League to show out, then signed a one-year deal with the Raptors, complete with a second-year option.

Davis’ decision is paying off for both himself and the team, has he has exceeded expectations in his rookie year. He’s become a key cog in Nick Nurse’s rotation and is destined to continue to see significant minutes when the playoffs roll around.

In 62 games – the only member of the team to play in every single game this season so far – Davis is averaging 8.0 points and 3.5 rebounds off the bench in 17.3 minutes per game. With the rash of injuries the team has faced, he’s even had an opportunity to make two spot starts.

He blew up in the February 2 win over the Chicago Bulls. In 28 minutes, he scored a career-high 31 points, draining six of his seven attempts from 3-point range.

The Raptors are almost definitely going to pick up Davis’ option for next season. Not bad for an undrafted rookie out of Ole Miss.
