The Blockbuster Trade

The Timberwolves would also receive the Knicks’ 2020 unprotected 1st round pick

So what exactly could the Knicks offer to the Timberwolves that would be enough for a superstar?

Numerous reports have been released regarding a hypothetical trade between these two teams. Some include expiring contracts like Marcus Morris and Taj Gibson, while others include 1st round picks from the Dallas Mavericks.

Let’s be realistic. You want a superstar? You have to pay the price.

According to some rumors, the Knicks appear to be unsure about parting ways with their highly-valued draft picks. While that could be the case regarding a normal trade, one would be a complete lunatic to turn down an offer like that, in hopes of a lucky future draft lottery.

In addition to “the holy draft pick”, the T-Wolves would also receive a borderline all-star in Julius Randle, as well as Dennis Smith Jr., a player that has been heavily linked to them during their search for a franchise point guard.

Kevin Knox could provide the team with some scoring off the bench and be a back-up to Andrew Wiggins at the small forward spot.

If the season were to end today, the New York Knicks would have the 4th highest odds at securing the top pick in the 2020 NBA Draft. This should make this trade proposal all but more appealing to the Wolves as they could select a top prospect, like James Wiseman or Anthony Edwards, to join Andrew Wiggins, Jarrett Culver and the New York duo to form a new very promising young core.

Next. Most likely player to be dealt from each team at the NBA trade deadline. dark

As we patiently wait for the trade deadline deals to go through, every fan dreams of tons of hypothetical trade scenarios. Could this be the day that the Knicks acquire a superstar? Yeah, we’ve been saying that a lot but we’ll just have to wait and see.
