1. For a young core

The Timberwolves are constantly looking for a young core, as the front office thinks that is ultimately more successful than a veteran-stacked team, and this might be one way to achieve that:

Despite his lack of production for the Timberwolves, Wiggins is still a great talent and a really promising young player in the league.

Since entering the league in 2014, only 11 players have scored more points than Wiggins, though Wiggins is much more of a volume scorer than he is a sharpshooter, that stat is still promising.

This trade would solidify the Timberwolves depth at the guard position, while also giving them a couple of talented young players in Dennis Schroder and Andre Roberson, and a shot at another young star in the next draft, depending on where the Thunder fall.

The Wolves might need to take the pick out of the equation to get this trade to go through, but the Thunder are looking to blow up their current system, and trading away Schroder and Roberson.

If this offseason has shown the NBA fans anything, it’s that nothing is impossible. Teams have made mind-blowing and mind-boggling moves, dynasties have imploded, and future dynasties may have risen up.

The Thunder and the Timberwolves could be looking to get in on that, and these trades could be one way that happens.
