3. Jeremy Lin

New Orleans could surely benefit from some health insurance in the form of a backup point guard. Lonzo Ball isn’t notorious for his ability to stay healthy, and with Jrue Holiday running the 2, it would make sense to have someone available to come in and play at the q whenever called upon.

Insert Jeremy Lin.

Coming off a season in which Lin won his first ever NBA title, the former Toronto Raptor could easily step in and aid Ball and Frank Jackson in their continued development, as well as taking over if one gets injured halfway through the season.

Lin, who is now used to a limited role, won’t require a ton of minutes and is willing to fulfill a spot on a team in the best way he can in ordee to help. In his 23 games with the Raptors last season (he was traded there after playing 50 games with the Atlanta Hawks) Lin started just three games, averaging 7.0 points and 2.2 assists in 18.8 minutes per contest.

We’ve also seen the talent and basketball knowledge that Lin possesses at the ripe age of 30. Just two years ago while playing for the Brooklyn Nets, the Harvard graduate put up 14.5 points and 5.1 assists per game. With Holiday playing the 2, Lin can take over the role of being the primary ball-handler when Ball is off the court. In a league of load management, this would be nothing but beneficial for the Pelicans and Holiday.
