3. Kyrie Irving

In what could easily be the most talked-about move since the beginning of the season, Kyrie Irving to the New York Knicks has seemed like the most possible scenario since October 2018.

But there may be some bad news for Knicks fans. Even though Kyrie has almost finished packing his suitcase out of Boston, there appear to be many possible suitors for him. This is understandable, given that Irving is one of the best basketball players in the world.

Lately, the Los Angeles Lakers and the Brooklyn Nets have emerged as the two frontrunners to obtain Uncle Drew’s rights for the next few seasons, leaving the New York Knicks on the edge of the picture.

Irving has previously expressed interest in playing for the Knicks, meaning that no decision is final until the ink is on the paper in July.

After a 103-101 win over the Knicks in October, Irving shared his insight on which teams he considered as a permanent home. During this brief interview, Irving told the New York Post:

"“I mean, every team was under consideration, but obviously New York held a special place for me,” Irving said after Boston edged the Knicks, 103-101,Saturday night at the Garden. “Just being from [New] Jersey and envisioning myself as a free agent and ultimately taking a meeting and playing for Fiz and the great young core they have here, thinking about playing with KP [Kristaps Porzingis], that was a big thing before I made my decision to sign back — or, I don’t want to get in trouble, to plan on re-signing back — with Boston. “But yeah, of course, New York was a strong consideration.”"

Irving has been taunting Knicks fans like that since the beginning of the season. Countless media coverage has been assigned to him, constantly monitoring the whole situation.

Kyrie would be the perfect player to electrify Madison Square Garden all over again. He’s simply a highlight reel machine, exactly what this fanbase needs after many years of “suffering.” Unfortunately, it seems like the Knicks are on the outside looking in for the time being.
