Phoenix Suns

Cameron Johnson (No. 11), Ty Jerome (No. 24)

After trading down from the sixth overall pick, the Phoenix Suns made the first shock of draft night in selecting Cameron Johnson at No. 11. The oldest player of the draft, Johnson is arguably the best shooter of his classmates with great size at 6’8”.

Having shot 45.7 percent on over 200 3-point attempts, he’s already shown potential darting off screens and of course as a spot-up shooter. His experience as a senior at UNC is sure to help fill the void left by the recently traded T.J. Warren while also serving as a floor-spacer for new teammates Devin Booker and Deandre Ayton.

In another trade with the Boston Celtics, Phoenix also managed to address its long-standing weakness at the point guard position with reigning NCAA national champion Ty Jerome. In leading Virginia to the top, he showed a knack for making plays with the size to see over defenses at 6’5”.

Johnson may help space the court for his new teammates, but after acquiring floor-spacing forward Dario Saric, why reach so high for him at No. 11? Jerome is a solid point guard option who will get his teammates the ball, but the selection of Johnson caught everyone off guard, putting immense pressure on the organization to make sure he pans out.
