The Memphis Grizzlies have been shopping Mike Conley for quite some time now. As the 2019 NBA Draft approaches and the free agency crop begins to take shape, several teams will look to make moves for the veteran point guard as they attempt to make a championship push.
Tuesday night, ESPN aired its Live NBA Mock Draft Special in which analysts Bobby Marks and Mike Schmitz alternated pick by pick through the 2019 NBA Draft. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski added color to each team and possible scenarios come draft day.
When it came to pick No. 2, Marks selected Ja Morant, which led Wojnarowski to elaborate on the Mike Conley situation. Woj talked about the Utah Jazz and their continued interest in Mike Conley, as well as the Boston Celtics and Indiana Pacers. He believes if Boston misses out on Kyrie Irving, it could move its sights to a potential Mike Conley trade.
I wrote about the Celtics and Conley last week and how it would be very difficult for Boston to make a trade with Memphis before Irving’s player option deadline. However, with the recent moves made by the Brooklyn Nets and the numerous rumors surfacing about the high possibility that Kyrie will take his talents there, Boston could be more inclined to make a move before or during the draft.
With these comments from Woj making the rounds, let’s explore possible Mike Conley trades with the Utah Jazz, Boston Celtics, and Indiana Pacers.
