It’s no secret that the Chicago Bulls are looking for an upgrade over Kris Dunn at point guard. Is D’Angelo Russell the answer they’re looking for?

The biggest theme for the Chicago Bulls, as spring turns toward an adventurous NBA summer, is the team’s desire to upgrade at the point guard position. The Bulls front office is clearly disillusioned with Kris Dunn, and there has been no shortage of ideas and names bandied about as replacements.

Before the 2019 NBA Draft Lottery, the dream was Ja Morant, Murray State’s super-sophomore point guard. When the Bulls logo emerged as the seventh pick, that dream died. Morant, instead, will likely go second overall to the Memphis Grizzlies.

Trade rumor season is in full swing, and Lonzo Ball‘s uncertain future with the Los Angeles Lakers has his name being thrown in almost any potential Anthony Davis-to-Lakers speculation. When it comes to the Lakers and AD though, it seems anyone on the Lakers is available.

Could the Bulls swoop in as the third team in any New Orleans Pelicans-Los Angeles deal and acquire Ball? Any deal involving Ball would more than likely cost Chicago its lottery pick in this year’s NBA Draft.

Will Chicago convince Patrick Beverley, another hometown hero, to come back to the Windy City? He could be exactly what the team needs as a feisty veteran who’ll never back down from a challenge.

Maybe John Paxson and Gar Forman can persuade the Milwaukee Bucks to pass on matching an offer for a restricted free agent for the second year in a row, this time with Malcolm Brogdon.

Perhaps the most talented option who could be available, however, is Brooklyn Nets star D’Angelo Russell. Last week I wrote about Russell as the top option in free agency this summer for Chicago, so it’s time to dive a little deeper.
