1. D’Angelo Russell

If there has been one thing made clear about the Chicago Bulls this offseason, it’s their unhappiness with Kris Dunn as the starting point guard. The point has almost been made too often, as not everything that went wrong in Chicago last season was Dunn’s fault.

That being said, the team needs an upgrade at PG. While there has been plenty of conversations about a Lonzo Ball trade, or a promise to draft Coby White in the NBA Draft later this month, there’s an All-Star point guard who is a restricted free agent who might actually be more available than originally thought earlier this spring.

With the Brooklyn Nets making moves to free salary cap space, coupled with the rumors tying Kyrie Irving to the Nets, it’s plausible at a minimum that the Chicago Bulls could make a successful run at D’Angelo Russell.

The Bulls are either still a few years away with an unproven rookie leading the team, or a potential playoff team with a dynamic, already proven All-Star directing traffic. Russell, who broke out last season, could team with LaVine and Markkanen to provide an explosive offensive trio. Last season, the former Ohio State star averaged 21.1 points and 7.0 assists per game. Those numbers would be a welcome upgrade in the Windy City.

Let’s face it, Kris Dunn’s days in Chicago are numbered. Acquiring a talent like Russell while not sacrificing talent in a trade or time in the draft could be the best option in replacing the Bulls’ incumbent starter. The Chicago Bulls want their fans to #SeeRed, but adding a star with icy veins could lead them back to the playoffs next season.
