Overall Outlook

At this point, there is no real reason to go over which teams he will fit with best, as the early reports already indicate Ja Morant will be the Memphis Grizzlies’ choice at No. 2. What we can discuss is his fit with the Grizz. He is in a no-lose situation going to Memphis, whether the team decides to keep Mike Conley or move him during the offseason.

Morant is entering a situation in which he will be the team’s starting point guard from day one. It still has to shake out whether Conley will be his running mate in the backcourt.

If Conley stays, he has an ultimate professional as his veteran. When it comes to guys in the league that you’d entrust raising your superstar of the future, Conley would definitely be one of them. This is the same guy who didn’t want to be traded to a playoff team at the deadline because he wanted to stay and be mentor to last year’s group.

In terms of years down the line, the Ja Morant-Jaren Jackson Jr. combination is going to be a force to be reckoned with for years to come. The offensive versatility of that duo is going to be a challenge for teams to defend on a nightly basis.

Next. Each team's greatest NBA Draft pick of all-time. dark

Morant’s vision and passing ability, combined with Jackson’s limitless range and explosive finishing, allows for a lethal pick-and-roll and pick-and-pop duo. We may look back down the line and say that Memphis won the 2018 and 2019 NBA Drafts.
