3. Attack the basket whenever Joel Embiid is off the floor

The very first play of the game saw point guard D’Angelo Russell drive right to the basket. The Nets knew that Embiid was out, and they were going to go right at the 76ers bigs to test them.

Boban Marjonovic and Greg Monroe are big with the ability to alter some shots, but they aren’t the defenders Embiid is.  Moving forward in the series, the Nets need to go right at them with their attacking guards to force them to defend and draw fouls.

The 76ers finished with just five blocks in the game. One of which came off of a block by Simmons on a 3-point shot attempt. They have the length to alter some shots, but the Nets need to get better looks somehow rather than just sticking to 3-point attempts. They’ve relied on the 3-point shot for 29.2 percent of their points this postseason. For comparison, the 76ers have scored just 18.3 percent of their points off 3-point shots.

After shooting 36.2 percent from 3-point range in the regular season, they’re shooting just 33.7 percent on those looks this postseason. They should work to get to the basket to make that change and get those better looks. Their offense from outside hasn’t been enough so far in the series, and they can change that by attacking the basket more moving forward.
