9. A star is born

It took three games for Trae Young to make his mark on the NBA. His debut game was a little rough as he shot just 5-for-14 for 14 points, but he still managed six rebounds and five assists.

His second time on an NBA court was a respectable 20-point, nine-assist game, including shooting 4-of-9 from 3-point range. However, it was the night of Oct. 21 that really showed the league what he was capable of doing.

This game would be the first of nine contests where Young would put up 30 or more points in a game. It also marked Young’s first double-double of his career with his 11 assists that evening.

Young shot the ball very well against the Cleveland Cavaliers that night, hitting 13 of his 23 field goals, including six of his 14 3-point attempts. He took care of the ball well too, just committing one turnover in 37 minutes of play.

This game marked the third-best game of Young’s rookie season according to Basketball-Reference’s Game Score metric, further etching his status as a star right away.
