Los Angeles Lakers: 3 biggest disappointments of the 2018-19 NBA season
By Tony Pesta
1. Injuries
This hectic season for the Los Angeles Lakers was only made worse by the nonstop cycle of injuries they endured.
Early in the season, the Lakers were struggling mightily. The team responded to this slow start with a 15-8 run from November to late December. This surge from the Lakers propelled them to the 4-seed in the Western Conference and had them looking like a legit playoff contender.
Then, just as things began to heat up for L.A., LeBron James suffered the worst injury of his 16-year career. A groin injury on Christmas day would keep James sidelined for an entire month. To no one’s surprise, the team failed to find much success without its leader.
The loss of James was huge, but the injury bug wasn’t done yet for the Lakers. Severe injuries to both Lonzo Ball and Brandon Ingram would ultimately put the nail in the coffin for this disappointing season.
While it is uncertain how successful this team could’ve been if fully healthy, there is no question that injuries to three key players represented the most unfortunate moment of this entire season for L.A.
