10. Collin Sexton’s coming out party vs. Houston

Let’s start off with what was the first great game of Collin Sexton’s career.

To begin the season, the Cleveland Cavaliers elected to have Sexton come off of the bench. The experienced veteran, George Hill, earned the starting position as Sexton was reserved to a minimum role.

This was obviously an uncomfortable spot for Sexton to be in. He was accustomed to being the focal point of the offense in college and this change of pace made it difficult for him to translate his game to the NBA level. For the first 10 games of the season, Sexton averaged just 10.5 points per game.

When he was finally promoted to starting point guard, Sexton knew he had to make the most of the opportunity. He got off to a hot start in his new role, but it wasn’t until his eighth game as a starter before he really showed what he was capable of.

After a strong 23-point performance in a win over the Philadelphia 76ers, Sexton responded with a monster game against the Houston Rockets. He scored 29 points on 14-for-21 shooting as the Cavaliers defeated Houston for their first set of consecutive wins this season.

While Sexton has scored 25-plus points a total of 11 times this season, the 29 points he scored against Houston remained his career-high. This was the first time Sexton showed real signs of potential and it solidified him as a starter for the rest of the year.
