3. LeBron, Kyrie appear eager to work things out

While this may be the first reason on this list, it may also be the most relevant.

The two initially split because Irving was fed up with playing second fiddle to LeBron. Despite winning a championship and making three straight NBA Finals appearances, living on the edges of the spotlight was too painful for the Duke product to bear.

Hence, he was traded to Boston Celtics and the dynamic duo was abruptly separated.

Recently, though, the situation has been cast in a far more positive light. Suddenly, there’s no beef. The two are buddies again. Who would have guessed it, right?

Irving shocked the NBA world back in January, claiming that he reached out to James to apologize for his immaturity. Whether you choose to believe that or not is up to you.

The takeaway here, though, is that the divide between these two isn’t as wide as originally believed – if there’s a divide at all. More evidence was provided for that sentiment when James drafted Irving during the 2019 NBA All-Star Game.

Is putting James and Irving back together a foolproof plan? Not in the slightest. However, if the rumors are true and the two have set their differences aside, it’s worth a shot for a Lakers team desperate to return to their winning ways.
