2. Trey Burke

Trey Burke was the most pleasant surprise of the 2017-18 season for the New York Knicks. He was picked up by the team in January in order to provide some much-needed scoring off the bench.

But Burke knew that he was more than just a backup point guard.  He ultimately turned into one of the best point guards in the Eastern Conference during that stretch. Over the final month of the season, he averaged 16.9 points and 6.2 assists per game.

Before the new season started, nobody knew who would start as the team’s point guard. Due to some poor performances in October, Burke was moved to the bench early on. Then, once again, Burke started playing with a chip on his shoulder. Over the past six games, he’s averaged 20.8 points in 26.9 minutes per game.

Hot streaks like that should not be left unnoticed. Burke’s per 36 numbers are better than many All-Stars’. During his spell with the New York Knicks, he has been exquisite and hungry to prove that he deserves a starting role.
