4. Injuries continue mounting

Coming into the season, the injury bug had already bitten New York in the form of Kristaps Porzingis’. It must have enjoyed the city, as it has yet to leave.

Courtney Lee has yet to suit up this season. Lance Thomas has dealt with nagging injuries. Emmanuel Mudiay has played in only five games as he works his way back into the rotation. The most disappointing injury during the start of the season has been the one to rookie forward, Kevin Knox.

Knox suffered a nasty ankle sprain in the third game of the season against the Boston Celtics. He missed the next seven games and has returned for the last two. He has played sparingly, only seeing 14 minutes total in two games against the Chicago Bulls and Atlanta Hawks.

Knox will assuredly be brought along slowly. There is no incentive to rush him back. It is encouraging to see him back on the court, even in such a small capacity. However, suffering an injury that early in the season can be detrimental to a young player.

Hopefully, this doesn’t set Knox back too much. If there has been any positive to his injury, it has been the emergence of Damyean Dotson. He stepped right into Knox’s role off the bench and has played the best basketball of his young career.
