2. Damyean Dotson

Throughout the offseason, Damyean Dotson was on the roster bubble. He struggled during NBA Summer League play and his spot looked to be in jeopardy. After Joakim Noah was waived, it cemented Dotson’s place on the roster.

The Knicks selected Dotson in the second round of the 2017 NBA Draft. He had not received many opportunities yet and was stuck on the bench to begin this season as well. The injury to Knox opens up some minutes and he should be inserted into the lineup to take over some of them.

Dotson fits the 3-and-D mold. He has good size, standing 6’6” and weighing 210 pounds. He fits the mold of the type of player that Fizdale likes, and now he will have an opportunity to showcase his talent.

Dotson played well against the Boston Celtics in relief of Knox. He logged 22 minutes, scoring 10 points with two rebounds, two assists and two steals. It was a strong season debut, which he improved upon in his second game.

Against the Milwaukee Bucks, Dotson played 32 minutes. He was thrown right into the fire, as he had to defend Giannis Antetekounmpo and Khris Middleton. He did not back down, scoring 14 points to go with eight rebounds and two steals.

His 3-point shooting has been impressive, as he has knocked down 6-of-13 attempts in his two appearances. Not only is Dotson making a case to receive minutes for the duration that Knox is sidelined, but he is also making one to receive minutes when the team is at full strength.
