Toronto Raptors: 3 overreactions through 3 games
2. C.J. Miles‘ status
C.J. Miles was brought in to Toronto ostensibly to be a 3-point specialist. He was okay in that role last year, averaging a career-best 2.3 3-point field goals made, while shooting a slightly less enthusiastic 36.1 percent from range.
This year, he’s fallen off a cliff.
Through three games, he’s made just 12.5 percent of his 3-point shots. That includes an 0-for-4 performance against the Celtics, complete with embarrassing air balls.

The presence of Danny Green has diminished the harm Miles’ rough start has had on the team, as Green is another player known for his 3-point shooting. Lowry’s hot start from beyond the arc doesn’t hurt either.
Just like Lowry, Miles is in for a course correction that would land him much closer to his career averages. He’s no spring chicken, set to turn 32 years old by the end of his 13th season in the NBA.
But he was much better in the preseason. In fact, he hit three of four 3-point attempts in the team’s last preseason game before the start of the regular season.
It’s easy to count out the player not performing in the moment, but give Miles some more time to get his legs underneath him and correct whatever is troubling him at this stage of the season.
