Oklahoma City Thunder: 3 takeaways from 2018-19 season opener
3. OKC still proved to be able to play with best teams
The Thunder traded away Carmelo Anthony and in turn, said goodbye to their Big 3. Adding Dennis Schroder did not stop the trend from last year where the Thunder routinely rose to the occasion and played well against the best teams in the league.
Even without Westbrook, they were they able to generate offense.
Last year, OKC beat the Warriors two times out of four and the Houston Rockets two times out of three. It is way too early to say this trend will continue this season, but they proved they could play with the best roster in the NBA on Tuesday night.
The OKC Thunder were able to stick with the Warriors by making more 3s. Facing sharpshooters like Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, it was surprising that the Thunder were able to accomplish that feat, making 10 triples compared to the Dubs’ seven.
The depth of Golden State was ultimately too much for OKC to handle, but the visitors made the game worth watching all the way to the end.
