4. Become a team leader

Not many people at 20 years of age are thrown in the spotlight right away. However, basketball is an occupation where age almost doesn’t matter. Even in his rookie year, Trae Young has a chance to become a leader for the Atlanta Hawks.

The team has already committed to pushing him as the face of the franchise by trading for him on draft night. With the guidance of veterans Vince Carter and Jeremy Lin, Young should be able to glean wisdom on how to motivate his team and become vocal both on and off the court.

The Hawks aren’t keeping him from the spotlight either. He has started each of the team’s preseason games and has free rein at the end of the game, including this game-winner from their recent victory over the San Antonio Spurs.

This will just be the beginning for Trae Young. If he isn’t afraid to lead and direct his team when the pressure is on, he’ll quickly become a go-to guy for the team, on and off the court.
