The Cleveland Cavaliers have retained much of their core roster from last season. Well, except for the greatest player on the planet, LeBron James. The impact his departure has on the team is so obvious it doesn’t need to be discussed.
However, the Cavs still have some solid pieces on the roster. The addition of rookie Collin Sexton could prove to be huge. Sexton showed promise during NBA Summer League and has potential to win the Rookie of the Year award.
Sexton’s competitiveness is what stands out the most for him. He isn’t afraid of any opponent and truly believes he can win every game. He uses his blazing speed to run in transition and play lockdown defense. Sexton very well could become the future of this franchise.
Furthermore, Cleveland added a few other players that are looking for a chance to prove themselves. Players such as Sam Dekker and David Nwaba still have potential and could find success within the Cavaliers’ roster.
That’s all without mentioning the young players that were added before last season even ended. Jordan Clarkson, Larry Nance Jr., Cedi Osman and Rodney Hood are all great assets. Hood and Osman especially have the potential to become studs in this new system.
Lastly, the fact that Cleveland managed to sign Kevin Love to an extension was great. He is a fan favorite and will be a huge benefit throughout the year. He will be on a mission to prove he is still an elite player.
