5. Improve defensively…a lot

The New York Knicks did not have a very successful 2017-18 season. After they finished with a record of 29-53, good enough for 11th place in the weak Eastern Conference, nobody expected big things from the squad in the near future.

To be frank, when you win 29 games, you don’t really expect to be good defensively, right? Well in the Knicks’ case, we expected them to be at least a mediocre team on that end. When you have players like Frank Ntilikina and Kristaps Porzingis, who are both supreme defenders, being tied for the seventh-worst defensive rating means something has to change.

Will it be the change of the head coach? Will it be the addition of a great rim protector in Mitchell Robinson? Or will New York experience the same kind of defensive issues once again?

It’s said that offense wins games and defense wins championships. Even though the New York Knicks are far from competing for an NBA championship, being a defense-first type of team would really help them get closer to accomplishing the ultimate goal.
