5. Enes Kanter elevating his game

Picture this. You’re at your regular 9-to-5 job and you hear that one spot is up for grabs. It is a huge promotion and you’d do anything to secure it. What do you do? You work twice as hard during the following period of time, making your bosses notice it along the way. Enes Kanter might be exactly that entering the 2018-19 season.

It’s not rare to see players enjoy breakout seasons in a contract year. It’s simply the best way to ensure that you get the most money in the following offseason.

Kanter seems very happy on the New York Knicks and might be looking for a long-term deal the following summer. But since the team might be a very popular destination for free agents, the Knicks could pull a “Scrooge McDuck” on him, forcing him to sign with another team on a more lucrative deal.

During the 2017-18 NBA season, Kanter did not spend much time on the 3-point line. Simply stating the fact that just 0.3 percent of all his field goal attempts were 3-pointers would be enough to describe his shooting tendencies.

Could he evolve into a complete all-around center? Perhaps that might be the best way to ensure he wears the blue and orange jersey for a long time.
