New York Knicks: 3 bold predictions for 2018-19 NBA season
3. Kristaps Porzingis will return before the All-Star break
When a player suffers an injury, whether that be as big as a broken leg or as small as a sore elbow, fans want to know when they’ll return to the court.
When it comes to Kristaps Porzingis and his road to recovery from a torn ACL suffered last February, nobody really seems to know when his return will come, as reports have come out with dates ranging from March till the beginning of the 2019-20 season.
KP’s was actually as lucky as one could be given the circumstances, in large part because the rest of his left knee was fine, whereas some suffer other injuries that make the recovery process more difficult.
Oct. 13 will mark eight months to the day of Porzingis’ surgery. The recovery time from such a surgery is anywhere between 8-12 months, which would make KP roughly a year removed from surgery by the time All-Star Weekend rolls around.
Porzingis has no doubt been working extremely hard to return to the game he loves. This is not to say he’ll return to his All-Star self immediately upon stepping onto the MSG hardwood, but an earlier than expected return wouldn’t be the craziest thing given the timeline and details that befell New York’s franchise talent.
