4. Put Trae Young in position for Rookie of the Year

There are a bunch of positives that put Trae Young in the Rookie of the Year conversation right away. He can hit a 3-pointer from almost anywhere and pull off some dazzling passes across the court for a dime too. And that was with little talent in Oklahoma.

Some may say that Young could end up being a ball hog in the NBA because he was while in college, but a lot of times it was out of necessity and not because he wanted to. Young is bound to struggle, but even the rookies from his class recognize his playmaking ability.

"…the Atlanta Hawks’ Trae Young was picked by his fellow rookies as both the best shooter and best playmaker in the rookie class…"

Young proved that quickly in Summer League too, posting 4.3 assists per game in Utah and increased that to 6.8 in Las Vegas. He finished the summer by scoring 15.1 points per game over the seven games he played in.

If the above skills can translate to working with the rest of the team, Young should have plenty of opportunities to make his case for the 2018-19 NBA Rookie of the Year.
